About

I started creating hats when my kettlebell trainer lamented that it was impossible to find a short-brimmed, weather-resistant bucket hat for disc golf. Since I have been sewing a long time, I thought that I could make him a custom hat. It was fun working with him on his specific needs and crafting something that is finished as well on the inside as the outside. This one hat started me on a journey of making headwear of many kinds for women, men, and children.

Crocheting is something I learned to do for an art project in elementary school. It was the next natural technique in my exploration of bucket hats, cloches, slouch hats, toques, pork pie hats, and headbands. My own interpretations and designs are now part of my creative process.

“The problem with a wish list was what it told you about the person who wrote it. If it’s honest, it’s a rock-bottom, barebones, clear shot all the way to someone’s soul.

Hats can do the same thing.”

― Charles Martin, Where the River Ends

Have to hat it.
